Hello! My name is Lana (sounds like “llama”).
I initially went into education for a few reasons. First, I truly enjoy working with students. I love the challenge of teaching and the fact that no two days are ever the same. As someone who is dyslexic, I understand the struggles many students face, and I wanted to become an advocate for them. Seeing students grow in confidence and experience those “Aha!” moments is by far my favorite part of this job.
I graduated from UNC in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education and a minor in Art. A few years later, I earned my master’s in Behavior Analysis, and now I’m back again pursuing my Education Specialist degree in Administration/Special Education Director.
Interests & Hobbies:
When I’m not teaching, you’ll likely find me at the parkour gym climbing, jumping, and swinging. I also coach there, teaching kids to do the same. Movement is a huge part of my life. I also love playing Dungeons & Dragons and consider myself a proud nerd who’s passionate about Harry Potter, Doctor Who, board games, and all things fantasy.
