About Me

What inspired you to get into the field of education?

My career began in the private sector, which I found to be less than fulfilling. My heart has always been with children, not just my own, but all children. I missed my calling to become an educator myself, but with the positive influence from family and friends who are teachers, I finally joined the world of education in 2005. Working at a grade 9-12 high school as a bookkeeper was a breath of fresh air. I made countless connections with students, staff, and community members and I loved every minute. I am so happy to now be a part of the Polaris Crew and look forward to all the days ahead.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Working with and for students is a privilege that I do not take for granted. To see the growth that comes with each passing year can be awe inspiring. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into the education of young minds, from teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and support staff alike. We all make a difference and the success of our students is very important and rewarding to me.

General background information (years in education, degree(s), Universities/Colleges attended)

I started out in Southern California taking college classes in early childhood education, with my sights set on a degree in elementary education. But once I became a wife and mother, my plans were put on hold. I continued my college journey sporadically and eventually earned a bachelor's degree in Educational Studies from Central State University, Ohio, summa cum laude. I have worked in education for nearly 20 years, starting with a county office of education and then moving to a high school as the bookkeeper and eventually at the district office as an accounting technician. Moving farther away from students was not my plan so I made a decision to come back to where my heart is, at a school site.  I left Southern California for this wonderful opportunity, and to be closer to family. I look forward to many more years to come as the office manager at Polaris, and I am excited to meet everyone in the coming weeks.

Interests/Hobbies

I enjoy spending time with my husband, two daughters, one son, and especially my (almost) 5 grandchildren, who are all 3 years old and under! When I'm not spending time with family, my husband and I love to explore the world, watch live music, and get-together with so many close friends for a good meal or a weekend getaway. I also love Disneyland and still find the magic every time I visit, especially through the eyes of my children and grandchildren 💛
