Learning Targets

A learning target is identified by the teacher, often with support from students.  These targets are grounded in the Colorado content standards for the class and shows what the goal of day’s learning will be.  While a learning target comes from the Colorado standards, they are written in a way that students can understand.  Polaris learning targets start with the phrase “I can” as a reminder that we can and will be able to hit the target.  Having a clear target also helps remind students where they are trying to go when they get a little lost or distracted. Targets also show students how to be successful and what how they can measure their performance against the target rather than against one another.
