I had worked with kids in day care and day camp settings a ton in high school and college. I also did a lot of babysitting. I never thought when I was younger that I would pursue a career teaching children, I just knew I really liked working with them. Fast forward to the summer before my senior year of college and I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to pursue with my degree in health. I talked to my career counselor and she told me to take a step back and think about what I really enjoy doing, regardless of it being related to my major. It was then I remembered, "Wait, I really like working with kids. Why am I not trying to follow a career doing that?!" My career counselor and I found an internship with a PE teacher in PSD for that spring and I've known I've wanted to be in a classroom and teaching kids ever since.
I love seeing the growth kids can make in such a short amount of time. That first time a struggling student conquers a difficult task makes my heart soar!
I also just love being around the kids in general. They have such creative minds and are so carefree. I find myself learning from them every day! Not a day of work goes by where I'm not laughing with them or celebrating their progress.
I earned a 4 year bachelor's degree from Colorado State University in Health and Exercise Science in 2017. I have since completed a one-year, online teaching licensure program, TeacherReady, to earn my teaching certificate.
If you know me at all, you know I LOVE ultimate frisbee. I've been playing since I was a sophomore in college and have continued playing after graduation. I play on the women's club team in Fort Collins, Trainwreck, as well as compete in several Fort Collins Ultimate leagues year round. When I'm not chasing a plastic disc I enjoy hiking, skiing, days up at Horsetooth Reservoir, drawing, painting, and trying my hand at photography (my muse is my wonderful dog, Arlo).
